Knots.

Feeling a little glum tonight. Feel there are some knots that I can’t just straighten out.

Glad to let it out through this…

Counter Intuitive Giving

14 02 2009

If you can’t feed a hundred people, then just feed one.” – Mother Teresa

Been wanting to make a micro loan for a LONG LONG LONG time… whoopee! Finally went to Kiva, clicked and made microloans to women in Vietnam and Cambodia! Plus bought a Kiva gift certificate as a belated Christmas present for a good o’ pal (ok… I know that’s quite a lag but I’ve been busy…)

Giving is strange. It just makes the heart happy… and enlarges it. Puts things in perspective too. Makes letting go easier… :) Pretty counter-intuitive in times like these…

On a side note, think it’s pretty cool they have a mechanism that asks if you would like to update your facebook activity stating who you are supporting. Smart way of spreading the word. Tapping on personal networks.

My First Ever Tomato Soup!

14 02 2009

Ooh… I was TOTALLY craving tomato soup last Sat. Finally whipped up my blender and made my first successful ‘Western Soup’ ever! After the multiple episodes of Nigella and Jamie blending soup… finally I overcame the hurdle of ’so-troublesome-still-have-to-wash-the-blender’ and DID it!

My gosh! the kitchen was smelling of onions and garlic frying… and the sound of tomatoes blending … and the result was FABULOUS!

I did the shortcut way (after watching multiple videos online + checking out different variations of recipes…) here’s mine:

(I cook by the ‘agar-agar’ way [*Malay for estimation] so no definite measurements…)

1. LOTS of Garlic and Onion stir fried in olive oil

2. Canned Diced Tomatoes

3. a few squirts of Tomato Paste

Boil boil boil then blend blend blend!

Then… add a few croutons + a pretty Coriander leaf and voila! Your Tomato Soup! hahaahhahaaha

Still can’t decide whether I like food styling better or actually cooking the food. I LOVE COOKING! Think its just SUPER SATISFYING to create something out of nothing!

Here to see more of my creative food adventures :)

Tell me what you think!

Turkish Delight

14 02 2009

I was browsing through my newsletters I receive from Lost at E minor and came across this Turkish designer… ooh… love her irregular expressions

These are my favs amongst her collection..

Would love to go to Turkey one day… :)

Her work reminds me of Singapore’s very own Grace Tan who started Kwodrent, taking a mathematical approach to fashion…

Hmm… let me pull out my needles and ribbons and cloth and see what’ll turn out…
